Dear Learners!
We are members of a civilization. Our civilization has witnessed many transitional stages. Human civilization has witnessed a transition from the primitive agrarian society to today’s knowledge society. There were many other societies in between, like: industrial society, post- industrial society, information society, etc.
Each society in this transition has some driving forces behind it. Driving forces during the early industrial age were machineries run by steam and coal which were replaced by electricity-based machineries in the mid-industrial age. Electrical machineries of mid-industrial age were replaced by electronic (digital) machineries in later-industrial age.
Digital machineries and communication technology started producing and transmitting digital content. Thus, digital content production industries came into existence. Since production of digital content is cheaper and requires lesser effort, it goes beyond the boundaries of economic value. In social media (Whatsapp, facebook, etc.), volumes of digital information are produced even without a reason behind. These digital contents are produced not only without motive but with ill motives also. It is not only difficult to manage such information but also to check its authenticity. It creates the situation of information explosion.
Analysis and utilisation of information in societal development is the area of concern in today’s knowledge society where knowledge processing is a driving force in societal growth. Knowledge has economic values. The society with more knowledge is considered a more powerful society. Only knowledgeable leaders can lead society today.
Dear learners! since you are at the stage of equipping yourself for becoming a future leader of your society. You must be a good knowledge manager. You are required to wisely select authentic data which is the raw material of knowledge and process them to retrieve the desired information and should utilise it in societal development in a manner to be termed as knowledge.
Dear learners! I suggest you search for only useful and authentic information. I know it is a difficult task in the environment of information explosion but being a future leader you must be tough enough to handle it smoothly. Little of wisely selected and organised content is more useful than the large volumes of information in heaps.
It is wise to check whether the selected and collected content is with you or not. So, revision of the learnt lesson is significant. I want to conclude my self with these few lines in verse:
Less study; more revision,
Making notes is a must.
Read today; revise tomorrow,
my mantra! You must trust.
Weekly, monthly, half-yearly
and yearly revision plan is must.
याद रखें : शयनपूर्व स्वमूल्यांकन की नियमितता आपकी नियमित प्रगति का आधार है.
Jai Hind!
